Volunteer, vetted and competent coaches who dedicate their personal time to coach.
At Shankill GAA we are dedicated to providing a fun, safe environment or all our players. Key to this are our passionate volunteer coaches who dedicate their personal time to coach our groups and also to increase their coaching competencies via the various Coaching Courses organised by the club.
GAA Coaching Materials
Football FunDo resource going through all the skills we should be coaching by age group. See links: Learning GAA &
Skill cards showing teaching points/tips for different skills.
Shankill GAA Club continuously strives to improve our coaching capabilities in several ways:
Formal coaching courses with large numbers of coaches having completed the coaching foundation and level courses.
Informal coaching sessions to upskill our coaches in teaching the skills of the games – these are often run by our own GPO or occasionally some well known external coaching experts come in the assist also.
With the welfare of all our members paramount all coaches are Garda Vetted and must complete a Safeguarding Level 1 course when they commence with the club. For more details on this please visit the child welfare section on our website. In addition to these formal steps the GAA provides a host of excellent materials to assist coaches.
The GAA Session planner is an excellent resource to help plan sessions – choose your code (football/hurling), your age group and the skill you want to develop and you are provided with a list of drills/activities to use.
